Wooden Boat Festival Call for Artists

Calling all artists! The Northwest Maritime Center is looking for artwork with the theme of "Tradition" for the 36th Annual Wooden Boat Festival. Submissions may be any fine or graphic art genre or fine art photography; a strong image will be most successful, as the selected artwork will be used for the festival poster, clothing, and all publicity. The artist whose work is selected will be paid $1500 and have the honor of his or her work becoming part of the Wooden Boat Festival history.

Artists who wish to be considered should submit one to three sketches or finished pieces specific to the 2012 theme, three additional samples of work (or a link to a web site to view more), an artist bio, and a brief explanation of how the theme and the Wooden Boat Festival inspired the piece(s) being submitted.

New this year, all finished pieces submitted for consideration will be displayed at Gallery Walk on February 4, 2012. The public will be invited to cast their votes for their favorite piece; the public vote will be considered by the Festival Directors and Wooden Boat Committee when making a final selection.

The deadline for submitting artwork has been extended to February 1, 2012. A decision will be made by February 10, and final art (if sketches were submitted) will be due by March 1, 2012.
