Sea Squirts Story Time to Launch July 7
Jun 22, 2011 | General

Sea Squirts Storytime offers interactive readings of tales of maritime voyages, pirates, mermaids, and seagoing animals; explanations of nautical lore; and salty songs. Children will sit around the storyteller on a large sail; chairs will be provided for adults. Coffee and treats will be available with a request for a donation to support the Northwest Maritime Center's year-round programs for Jefferson County schoolchildren.
The regular storyteller is Shelly Randall, a Port Townsend maritime writer, experiential educator, and mother of a two-year-old "Sea Squirt." One or more author readings may be scheduled during the summer.
Following Sea Squirts Storytime, children will be invited to engage in an activity such as a visit to the Pilot House to view passing ships through binoculars, a block-and-tackle demonstration, nautical flag decoding, or a treasure hunt on the beach.
Bring bag lunches to enjoy after storytime or buy sandwiches, drinks and snacks at the Northwest Maritime Center Café.
