Stanley Cummings, Executive Director
Stan brings nearly 30 years of maritime education experience to the helm of the Northwest Maritime Center. As CEO of The Ocean Institute in Dana Pointe, California, he developed sustainable maritime programs for all ages, including hands-on exhibits, K-12 curriculum, teacher education programs, partnerships with regional marine partners which included the purchase and use of two tall ships and a research vessel. Those programs now serve 80,000 school children and teachers annually. Stan completed his Ph.D. at Stanford in Science Curriculum & Teacher Education. Prior to moving to Port Townsend, he served as Executive Director of Citizens for a Healthy Bay in Tacoma and was Head Master at Annie Wright School. He and his wife, Sigrid, have two daughters.
