Howard Learned
Howard comes from a long line of Port Townsend pioneers dating back to 1856. The Learned House, occupied by his great-grandmother, is located in Uptown Port Townsend, across from the Bell Tower, and his mother’s family pioneered the Chimacum area. Howard received his B.A. from Lafayette College, his M.B.A. from the Wharton School, and served four years overseas on active U.S. Army duty. He began his business career with the Bank of America in San Francisco and later New York. One of the highlights of his banking career was serving as a Conference Board Congressional Assistant from Bank of America to the U.S. Senate in 1977. In 1989, Howard and his wife Suzanne began a second career by founding Seacraft Classics, Inc.
(www.seacraftclassics.com). Seacraft specializes in limited edition and custom ship and yacht models for well-known yacht builders and individuals world-wide. After spending many summers in the Port Townsend area, the Learneds recently moved their business and home here from Scottsdale, Arizona. Howard remains General Partner in various Arizona land investments. For many years he served on the board of the Arizona Business Leadership Association. He enjoys golf, hiking and hunting, and he keeps his Port Townsend-built boat at the Port Hadlock Marina.
