King
David has been involved in all phases of marine construction since 1971. Currently he is a founding partner and chief financial officer of Townsend Bay Marine
(www.townsendbay.com), a full-service composite boatbuilding and repair facility. Previously, David was project manager and general manager at Admiral Marine Works Inc., during which time the company grew from 20 to 160 employees. Prior to that, he was proprietor of Port Townsend Yachtbuilders. David’s introduction to marine trades came in l971 with his first exposure to wooden boatbuilding on the Chesapeake Bay. A few years later he was teaching boatbuilding at the Apprentice shop of the Bath Marine Museum in Bath, Maine. David has served on the board of directors of the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding and is past president and current member of the Board of Directors of the Wooden Boat Foundation. In l992 David participated in the first International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition (IBEX) and Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as a member of a panel discussion about the mega-yacht industry. At IBEX West in l995 he served as faculty for the seminar “Managing Large Yacht Construction Projects.” David has a B.A. from Harvard College and holds a certificate in project management from the University of Washington. He currently is a member of the Port Townsend City Council.
