Carla
recently
retired
from
the
City
of
Seattle
after
nearly
20
years
of
service
in the Department of Neighborhoods, the Neighborhood Planning Office, the Strategic Planning Office, and the Department of Transportation. Her work focused on community development and citizen involvement in complex and controversial projects, and she worked with community groups, businesses, individual citizens, and elected officials to maximize citizen participation and accountability. Carla also has extensive nonprofit experience, including managing a small nonprofit community services agency. She has served on boards at the neighborhood, city, regional and national level, including the International Community Development Society, Neighborhood House in Seattle, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the University District Chamber of Commerce and several food bank boards. A new resident of Port Townsend, Carla and her husband Brad purchased their home here in 2001 and moved here full time in 2003 when son Alex enrolled in the University of Montana to study forestry. Carla has visited Port Townsend since 1970 and the community has always held a special place in her heart.
